Jesus’ face

According to Carlos F. Cardoza-Orlandi, the main investigator in this project, in the 1Corinthians epistole Paul wrote: “If a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him”. This sentence proves that Jesus could not have been long-haired, since this looking was not well-considered in that culture. In addition to this, in Saint Mathew Gospel, we can read the famous Judas’ kiss, because Jesus looked like any other semitic man.
That’s why Cardoza-Orlandi, associate professor of world Christianity at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta (USA), gathered several skulls from Israel, dated as Ist Century A.C., and with advanced computer-scanning techniques, he got this face as the most probable: short with tight curls and bear, dark hair and eyes, and this face shape. Jesus’ height could be 1,55 meters, and Jesus’ weight 55 kg, although being a carpenter maybe more.
If you are interested in this research, I encourage you to read the whole article. It’s fascinating!
I hadn´t imagined that Jesus looked like this photo.
ResponderEliminarThank you, Joan, for your paper. It made me think about my God´s imagery. I imagined Jesus´ face like his face in the pictures. And probabily that´s not true.
But, what´s more important, I realize that sometimes I have my own God´s imagery. And so many times these ones are not similar to Jesus as He appears in the Gospel.
May be there are a lot of things that we supose to be as we think. May be God is totally THE OTHER: different from how I think, different from how I talk about Him... May be God is different.
Thank you, Joan.
